The activists of EECA CAB received a letter from the Galien Prix Committee in response to the open letter sent by several organization, expressing their outrage with the fact that the Award was presented to the company MSD for the drug boceprevir.

Among other things, it was stated in the letter that the recipients of the Prix Galien are selected by an independent committee of experts based upon scientific criteria and potential health impact of a product candidate. Pricing decisions of a company are not taken into account although it is recognized that they can have important social implications.
